Visit the vitamin and supplement aisle of any supermarket or health food store these days, and you’ll undoubtedly find a wide selection of weight loss energy drinks. These are often pre-mixed protein shakes that supply protein, vitamins, and nutrients; but some of them more closely resemble sweetened soda pop, except with artificial sweeteners instead of sugar.
Do these weight loss energy drinks actually help you lose weight?
If they contain appetite suppressing elements, they might be helpful for some people. For example, eating or drinking a protein-rich product can help stave off hunger for a few hours, which may help you eat less than you ordinarily would during the day. If the product also contains stimulants like caffeine, it may help boost metabolism slightly, which can also help you lose more weight.
Is there any downside to using these products? Sometimes, yes. Many of them contain artificial sweeteners, which can cause adverse effects in many people. There is also a risk of being too dependent on the products to provide nutrients instead of getting them from whole, nutritious foods. If you look closely at the labels of these products, you’ll see a notice that says something like, “Not meant for use as a meal replacement”. That means you can’t survive just drinking shakes and weight loss energy drinks alone. You still need to follow a healthy diet and exercise daily.
Now, what about NATURAL weight loss energy drinks? The products described above usually can’t be classified as “natural” because they often contain artificial ingredients. However, there are some natural weight loss energy drinks that can be even more beneficial than those described above:
Oh, most people don’t think of water as being a weight loss energy drink – or any kind of energy drink, for that matter. But being well-hydrated is one of the simplest, most effective ways to boost your energy AND help you lose weight. It works like a charm, and it works fast. The truth is that the majority of people today are dehydrated. If you don’t drink enough water, give it a try for a few days and you won’t believe how much better you feel and how much easier it is to lose weight.
Another great natural weight loss energy drink is green tea. It’s so simple and so widely available that people are often surprised by how beneficial it is when they start drinking just 2-3 cups of green tea a day. Not only does it help boost your metabolism slightly, it provides a lot of antioxidants that can actually improve your health.
Never heard of white tea? It comes from the same tea leaves that end up as black tea and green tea – but the leaves are plucked when they are very young. White tea has a very mild flavor, even milder than green tea, and definitely much milder than black tea. Even better, white tea has a higher concentration of antioxidants than green tea does, so it’s equally as good for you, if not better.
Any of these natural weight loss energy drinks can be beneficial when they are part of a balanced diet and exercise program.
